From Broken to Badass: One Woman’s Journey Through 12 Losses and How She Emerged Stronger.

Intro:

Who would have thought you could fall so deeply in love with the idea of finding meaning after loss, that you turn it into a podcast? Well, that’s exactly what international bestselling author and breast cancer survivor Lisa Heacock did.

Lisa in 2023

Lisa’s Story:

She embodies the understanding that approaching grief cycles doesn’t require long suffering. It’s about ripping off the old bandage and acknowledging the pain, knowing it will soon pass and make you stronger.

Every holiday season, Lisa faces this head-on. She rips off the old bandages, remembering the pain of losing her 24-year-old son-in-law amidst Thanksgiving and Christmas, two days after his funeral on Christmas Eve 2019.

The holiday season can be brutal for those grieving, hindering their move into the New Year and hindering their potential to become their best selves.

Lisa’s Program and Message:

Lisa has lived through this fire, also engulfing herself in education. Her one-on-one support program, “Honoring Loss, Embracing Life: Strategies for Holiday Resilience,” is specifically designed for those struggling to move beyond the same two dials of pain.

“Even though I’ll never ‘get over’ losing my loved ones, by helping others, I believe I honor their lives and give meaning to mine,” says Lisa.

Personal Growth and Inspiration:

When we journey towards self-transformation, we must remember to take care of our own needs first, to truly serve others. Lisa embodies this resilience, using various tools to assist her.

Her dedication to personal growth, development, and mental health organically led her to discover her life’s purpose.

We often fail to consider the impact of losing someone as a form of PTSD and trauma. In a 22-month period, Lisa lost 12 loved ones, went through a divorce, and overcame breast cancer. Our capacity to endure without acknowledging and offering compassion to ourselves can lead to devastating effects like stress and burnout.

These experiences ignited in Lisa a profound empathy and understanding for others, guiding them towards healing. In discovering her superpower for healing others, she further healed herself, confronting the illusion of suffering resurfacing within.
